Mike started Southern City Flavors 24 years ago while working in Corporate Sales. He worked for Hill's Pet Nutrition for 23 years where he sold Science Diet dog and cat food. Southern City Flavors all started out of his hobby of cooking in Chili and BBQ contests. When his original BBQ Sauce won the Tennessee State Championship and then won the World Grand Championship at the Memphis in May World Grand Championship BBQ contest 21 years ago, Mike decided to bottle the BBQ sauce.
Southern City Flavors started with 6 products and we still sell two of those today. Mike has always been the happiest when cooking for friends and family, no matter if it is in the kitchen, at the grill or at his smoker. There is nothing more rewarding to him than to see his family and friends gathered in the kitchen, around the grill or at the table enjoying good food, great conversation—to him that is real love.
